Natubelenge Children’s Library is a community-centred non-profit organisation dedicated to providing educational resources and capacity-building opportunities for children and young people in underserved communities.


Library and Administration (Paid Volunteer)


 REPORTS TO: Programs Coordinator


The library and Administration (volunteer) at Natubelenge Children’s Library will play a pivotal role in providing excellent customer service, assisting patrons with locating materials, and supporting the overall operation of the library. This position involves a range of clerical duties, including shelving books, cataloguing, and maintaining of the library's resources. Further, they provide essential support to the organisation by handling various administrative tasks to ensure efficient operation.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES


(Including but not limited to the following)


Library Support


Assist patrons in finding books, resources, and information


Register children daily and new library members monthly


Shelve and maintain library materials in proper order


Process check-ins and check-outs (books)


Help prepare for events


Support cataloguing, data entry, and inventory checks


Process new books (labelling, covering, etc.)


Monitor for misplaced or damaged items and arrange replacements


Provide general support to library staff as needed


Administrative Support


Maintain filing systems (physical and digital)


Answer phone calls, direct calls, and manage appointments


Respond to emails and digital queries


Proofread materials before public use


Input data into databases and spreadsheets


Help manage calendars and office supplies


Handle deliveries and donations


Assist with compiling reports


Adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines


QUALIFICATIONS


Diploma in Library and Information Science.


Must be digitally literate (Proficient in MS Office, Google tools etc)


Ability to work collaboratively and communicate with diverse audiences.


Must genuinely enjoy engaging with children.


Writing clearly and accurately in English is essential
