DRIVER
BLANTYRE BAPTIST CHURCH
We are inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position of Driver for our Eicher 36-seater vehicle.
OVERALL PURPOSE
To check the roadworthiness of Blantyre Baptist Church vehicles before embarking on a trip, and safely drive to the intended destination to the satisfaction of passengers, in accordance with the organization’s standards and procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND SPECIFIC TASKS
1. Conduct vehicle pre-trip and post-trip checks.
2. Clean assigned vehicles and ensure that the Blantyre Baptist Church brand is well protected.
3. Ensure that vehicles have valid insurance and Certificate of Fitness (COF) documents.
4. Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts at all times.
5. Observe all traffic regulations and organizational driving policies.
6. Take personal responsibility for any traffic citations (tickets) issued while operating church vehicles.
7. Drive safely, obey traffic laws, and respect the rights of other road users.
8. Maintain reasonable speeds and exercise caution at all times.
9. Take responsibility for the care and maintenance of the assigned vehicle.
10. Limit passenger transportation to the vehicle’s approved capacity.
11. Report accidents or incidents within a reasonable period.
12. Ensure that the vehicle is secured and attended to at all times when not in use.
13. Complete a vehicle logbook whenever the vehicle is used for work-related purposes.
14. Report any defects, breakdowns, or operational issues to the Transport Officer immediately upon return.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
• Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
• Valid Driver’s Licence, Class C1, PG/P.
• A minimum of 5 to 10 years’ experience driving large, modern, and advanced passenger buses.
• Additional professional driving certifications or licences will be an added advantage.
• Mature, dependable, and professional individual with good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A self-starter able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Ability to maintain a vehicle log book
• Ability to compile and submit vehicle condition reports
